Striving for perfection sounds like a worthy goal, yet for many, it is more likely to hinder progress than motivate it. You see, perfectionism is a big contributor to procrastination because there's always another tweak to make something better and so the project is never quite finished.
Perfectionism also feeds those lurking feelings of not being good enough and so undermines confidence. Read more about this in the article below.
Do you enjoy the feeling of doing something perfectly? It is such a good feeling, isn’t it!
But there’s a dark side to perfection:? constantly measuring yourself against perfection undermines your confidence. You see, perfection only exists in the mind of the person striving for it… Everybody has a different idea of perfection so even if you meet your own version of it, somebody out there will find a flaw! The end result is always feeling not good enough, and that is the thief of confidence.
Once your confidence is weakened, self-doubt creeps in, and then your inner critic has a hey day! In order to keep you safe from situations that make you feel bad, your inner voice starts warning you of all the possible pitfalls and poor outcomes that could come from taking the action you’re considering. Although it has good intentions, all that doom and gloom undermines not only your confidence but also your motivation!
Instead of motivating you to move forward, your inner critical voice creates fear of failure… and there’s no need to tell you how that works out! If you'd like to Turn Your Inner Critic into a Supportive Fan, that's what my free ebook is about.

The strange thing about confidence is that is comes from accepting imperfection and that part of doing new things is to make mistakes. In reality, it is from mistakes that you learn most about how to get things right! The best you can do is your best, and as you improve, so will your achievements.
So use your imperfection to keep you curious about how to do things better and to maintain the mindset of a continuous learner. If you need to measure yourself, measure your willingness to improve, and then celebrate your progress. Even small steps forward are worth celebrating as that increases your confidence to take the next step.
The mountain of confidence is climbed one step at a time!
