The Dark Side of Curiosity.

?Curiosity.?
It's a powerful tool for all aspects of life and leadership.
Get curious and watch your possibilities bloom! Oh ya. Curiosity is incredible when used with intention and awareness.
It does have a dark side. ??
There are those curious moments that dive us into regret, shame, negative self-talk and all kinds of sneaky self-sabotage. You know what I am talking about. These are the kinds of questions and thoughts I hear from clients and have experienced personally myself.
Do you see yourself in any of the examples below?
"What is the meaning of everything I am doing and what am I going to have to show for it?"
"What if I never reach the level of success I thought I would? If I am ok with that, am I giving up or letting go?
"What if I don't take this opportunity and I never have a chance like this again?"
"If I stay at this job I'm proving to myself I could never be the entrepreneur I thought I could be."

"All those years I spent trying to make this work...I have wasted time, money and moments with my family."
?? It's too easy to apply curiosity AND a thick layer of shame/fear at the same time.
Curiosity is meant to open up perspective, possibility and to fuel momentum. When hijacked by all that self-sabotaging crap (fear, rejection, resentment, shame) it can feel like it's actually closing in on you and suffocating potential.
?????????????? ?????? ?????????????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ?????? ???????? ???????????? ????. ???????? ?????? ??????????????.
So YES...get crazy curious about life, work and everything in between but please be aware if you get hijacked and if you do....take a break...spend time with someone you love...go for a walk...do anything but try to solve the riddles of the mind that creep up when curiosity steps into the shadows.
Life doesn't have to be so hard. I promise.
