ABOUT A DARK KNIGHT...
“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
H. Dent
A complex production in every sense, it is not you can lose a scene because you run the risk of losing the plot. There are so many symbolisms implicit in the film that would make one think that perhaps it is oneself who creates them, even so, it would be a great achievement for the director, and above all of the scriptwriter, creating these spaces that move the reflection. At the time, the Matrix saga generated a similar controversy, since it was said that its directors did not they had the requisite capacity to philosophize, and therefore we could not consider the film as a theory or epistemological parameter, the truth is that it made us think and with Batman, The Dark Knight something happens similar.
The game of co-responsibility draws attention powerfully, no one is totally good, and no one is totally bad; in fact, the one who thought he was the most hero will be the unexpected villain the film constantly leads us to ethical dilemma and possible answers seem bewildering and always pose a new dilemma, a kind of mo?bius strip, a bet, a coin with two faces at the beginning the same face but in the outcome of a dark face marked by tragedy and the another one of hope.
It all starts when a psychotic-anarchist crash a Gotham mob meeting to blackmail those criminals that he considers inferior for having money as the only motive, The Joker character is very attractive from the start – at the beginning because it represents the antinomy of the hero; the actors themselves in their discussions about the script they see as the representation of terrorism, which sometimes seems to have not so understandable reasons, and it seems that there lies the strength of this villain, in not having rules, in a total absence of ethics, and although he himself also adds not having plans, it seems that this is not so accurate, because it turns out that he was the one who but he had projected things, he plays with the system and mocks him.
Now, the Joker will try to convince the gangsters that it is necessary to destroy Batman because he represents order, it is the image that unifies the Gotham City community. At the end of the story the villain will confess to Batman that he understood that he did not he had to destroy it because the duality between the chaos that he represented and the order that Batman meant.
In order to catch Batman, the Joker puts himself in crisis the entire system with a series of murders that lead to bring down a successful trial that would put out of circulation to all the thugs of the city, this trial had been orchestrated by the District Attorney, Harvey Dent; to whom Batman intends to leave the responsibility to become the figure of order; it seems that the apprehension of the gangsters will bring also negative consequences for the system according to it can be deduced from arguments given by the mayor himself, as if it were necessary to pretend that the system should impose order, but not completely because otherwise its reason for existing would end.
Batman is committed to turning himself in because he doesn't they can stop the Joker, but deep down he is plotting a way to trick him in order to catch him, for this, Batman, the Prosecutor and the police chief join forces (now commissioner); the second has a conference press in which he justifies the existence of Batman that if well “it is beyond the law” and has its own jurisdiction, he cannot be handed over to the Joker, simply because it is unethical to condemn a man (who also represents something in that community) to stop a criminal; Harvey will he pretends to be Batman and that's how they catch the Joker; but this it was planned because when everyone celebrates the trump history turns upside down, the Joker has kidnapped Harvey and his girlfriend, who by the way was the sentimental partner of Bruce Wayne who expects get back to her when he stops being Batman.
The Joker is interrogated by Batman at the expense of the police officer, the hero is thrown into an ethical dilemma, learns of the kidnapping and to obtain information about the whereabouts of the hostages has to violate “its only fixed norm” and tortures the Joker until he gets the information, the Joker feels happy, he has achieved corrupt the hero In Bale's production notes, who plays Batman, comments that in the movie several times "what arises is the question of whether they can bend the rules without breaking them.”
As a result of the Joker's ruse, Rachel dies. Dawes, girlfriend of the prosecutor and love of Bruce Wayne, who still thinks of going back to her, although she has decided to stay with Harvey, the prosecutor is still alive but his face is burned on one side, the latter, coupled with the death of his fiancée, give rise to the suggestive Joker's words that lead Harvey to become a villain, ‘Two Face’; in the background lies a metaphor, Harvey was the Western hero who dominates about fate, that he decides to do good, carries always a coin with two equal sides, because he’s pretending to leave everything to chance, he will always decide for the goodness. After the fire that marked his face, his coin is also marked, now he has two options, now he can also do evil.
Batman faces this new villain and defeats him; the Commissioner Gordon says that he still has won the Joker because he managed to make the best man the worst. But this will not have to know Gotham city that needs to be rewarded not with the truth but with the confirmation of your beliefs, basically you will have to continue supporting and nurturing fiction, for this Batman must sacrifice himself that beyond being a hero, he is a hidden vigilante, who works for the system, but the system will pretend that it is chasing him and he is the enemy to beat; Batman is able to withstand this persecution because he knows evil, because revenge moves him and therefore, he is the most apt to decide when to use the violence in favor of Gotham City, it's the dark side of justice, the raison d'état that he needs from the state exception to be able to act quickly and efficiently.
Finally, we should analyze the part in which the villain subjects two groups to "a social experiment" humans, is a new ethical dilemma: two ferries sail escaping from the possible catastrophe but both carry a bomb, have a time limit to decide, they have to blow up the other boat to live in, if they both don't boats will explode. To season the decision, criminals are in one of the boats, in the other put the decision to a vote and those who win they want to destroy the other ship, but nobody decides to press the button; one of the criminals also takes a decision calls for the detonator and throws it overboard, the argument, there is the good will of the others because until now they have not destroyed us; the bad guys they look good, the good ones are NOT SO GOOD.
REFLECTION. In these times that run, where the national security may involve certain not so fair actions, the old question arises paradox of the reason of State, who and what justifies upsetting the order, how eminent danger, what terror can make you stop side the social contract; but the information keep running and democracy demanding a full transparency; then they will have to devise new justifications and be born new myths, in the end: society deserves something more than the truth, or not?

7 个月Brilliant analysis! The exploration of ethical dilemmas and the interplay between order and chaos in 'The Dark Knight' is spot on. The film’s depth truly lies in its ability to provoke thought on morality, responsibility, and the fine line between hero and villain. Great reflection on how these themes resonate with real-world issues.
