Daria's development journey
I’m Daria, a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at AVIV Group. Here, my primary focus is on our vacancies in Strategy & Transformation, Ventures & Incubation, Finance, HR and Legal. So just a little bit busy…
Why is development important to you?
The world is constantly changing and advancing at a radical pace. This means that the ways people work, operate and react is also changing. To remain abreast of this, it’s vital that I spend time developing myself as a person and a TA professional.
I’m lucky to have a personality that’s all about learning and challenging myself. Not just to learn new things, but to refresh the basics. This makes me valuable and influential - not only to my stakeholders, but also to my colleagues and candidates.?
What has been your favourite learning and why?
A big passion of mine is Diversity & Inclusion. It’s a topic that I hold close to my heart. As a mum in a male dominated industry, it’s important that I provide the necessary level of support and inclusivity to my candidates and stakeholders. With this in mind, I found Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for HR Professionals and Leaders on LinkedIn Learning. A platform that I’m lucky to have access to via AVIV Group.?
This course sharpened my awareness and made me look inward and challenge my own processes and actions. Which therefore improves the way I’m perceived.?

How might others find time to develop themselves?
First of all, it’s so difficult to find the time, but to also dedicate yourself to that time you’ve allocated. Luckily, I have the permission to dedicate 30-60 minutes a week to my development. Which out of the 40+ hours I work a week, really isn’t much at all.
When the time arrives, I switch off all notifications and disturbances: my email, Slack, LinkedIn and my phone goes to do-not-disturb. If I can’t find the time in the week because I’m so slammed, then I’ll find the time when I’m commuting or getting ready in the morning. The world of podcasts and learning-on-the-go has developed in my favour, meaning that I don’t need to be sitting at my desk.?
What other ways do you develop yourself?
With a toddler at home, I love the accessibility of podcasts. Being able to stop and start with a headphone in whilst I’m wrapping up work, sorting the house out or on my way out to see friends.?
I also love to scroll through LinkedIn and read up on thought leadership and innovations across the industry.?
On top of all of this is how useful I find face to face collaboration. Nothing beats being in a room with peers, thrashing out an idea. Finding conflicting ideas and really getting into the details.??
Development for me is very much part of who I am. It is, and always will be a necessary part of my weekly life.
To challenge myself and make sure I’m keeping up with the ever changing world we live in. I’m so pleased to have access to a variety of learning opportunities, and now with LinkedIn Learning available to everyone at AVIV Group - we can really foster a collective focus on development.
