Happy Tuesday! :)
October is my favorite month of the year because it's my birth month.
I've been celebrating my birthday since October 1 and I am planning to keep celebrating until October 31.
My actual birthday is tomorrow, October 19. Please pray for me. Thank you! :)
Last Sunday, I was invited to give a talk at Feast Bellevue Alabang Jewels.
The participants were all women and it was such a beautiful feeling to be with them in person.
My talk was about "Daring to be Me."
I shared with them three tips and sprinkled those three tips with lots of mini stories.
Let me share the 3 tips with you:
Tip #1: Allow yourself to make mistakes.
When I was in Grade 4, something happened that changed the course of my life.
From fearless, confident, brave, and talkative girl, I developed inferiority complex.
Since then, I became so shy, insecure, and introverted.
I didn't dare rock the boat.
I rarely raised my hand for recitation in class because I was afraid to make mistakes and to be laughed at.
When I was already working for a bank, not only was I afraid to share my suggestions during our team meetings. I also couldn't even talk to my officemates one-on-one.
Thank God I made a decision to allow myself to make mistakes.
I joined a public speaking organization to develop my confidence and communication skills.
I cried in my first speech, but I kept showing up anyway.
I kept making mistakes and learning from those mistakes.
Today, I've spoken to global brands all over the Philippines.
I've traveled to Singapore, Malaysia, HongKong, India, UAE, France, U.S., and the Maldives to give talks.
This wouldn't have happened if I didn't allow myself to make mistakes.
Last night, we did the Welcome Party for the participants of my online course "The 90-Day Speak to Thrive Challenge."?I promised them we're going to have a lot of FUN. I also told them we'll make a lot of mistakes together, and that's okay."
Tip #2: Allow God to reveal His sweet, loving nature to you.
He is the sweetest!
Let me share one of my favorite stories about how sweet, loving, gentle, and caring He is.
In May this year, I traveled to 6 countries in Europe for 21 days.
Just a brief background: My sense of direction is very poor. Hehe!
I got lost inside a mall in Makati City and my friend had to leave work to fetch me because I couldn't find my way out.
I couldn't count the number of times I forgot where I parked my car.
When I traveled to Europe, I had no travel agent. Everything was DIY. Plus, I traveled solo.
The nerve, right? Hahaha!
I remember this sweet moment. I was in Zurich, Switzerland.
The driver dropped us off in the middle of the city after our half day city tour.
I had no Wifi on my phone, and even if I did, I couldn't read Google maps at that time anyway.
I said,
"God, I'm craving for sushi and sashimi! Can you please direct my steps to a Japanese restaurant? I just want to enjoy the view. And oh, I also want ice cream for dessert. Thank you!"

Then I walked leisurely, 100% confident He heard me.
After 10 minutes, what did I see?
A Japanese restaurant.
Beside it, an ice cream place!!!
He listens...always!
I have lots of other stories related to how loving, sweet, romantic He is. Too many for this TuesDate. Hehe!
Tip #3: Allow yourself to be seen by the "right" people.
I was tone deaf all my life.
A singing coach heard me sing and said,?"Sha, you have a beautiful voice."
Everyone else around me lovingly said,?"Sha, please do us a favor. Don't sing."
They had every right to say that because I really couldn't carry a tune.
It took the right person, a singing coach, to "see" and hear the singer in me. Naks!
Fast forward to today, my song covers and original song are on Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
We've done 27 music videos so far.
Here's the playlist in case you want to treat yourself to good music and excellent music videos. Hahaha!
Allow yourself to be "seen" by the right people.
I hope these three tips are helpful to you.
Allow yourself to be seen.
Dare to be YOU.
Because at your core, you are loving, confident, brilliant, joyful, creative...
Allowing yourself to be seen is my core message when I give talks to global brands.
Have fun!
Cheers,
Sha
