Dare to Dream!

When I'm not working I'm often doing things in the community. I'm pretty sure some members of my team think it's all I do lol. One of the current endeavours is as Chair of the Halifax Hurricanes, a professional team of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Yes this is a pro team and I'm one of 27 'investors', but our motives are all around community.

People ask me 'why'? Why are you doing this? Mostly for 2 reasons; the first is to provide a first class entertainment experience for basketball fans in Halifax. A reason to bring young kids downtown to see our players perform, a good fun family experience. To add to the culture in our city, bringing 25 or so games to our downtown core each year.

The second reason is to give our players an opportunity. A chance for them to pursue their dreams. These are great young guys, they are outstanding athletes, and they do good work in our community. Check this new documentary video produced by 3rdeYe entitled "Dare to Dream":

The guys we have this year are absolutely daring to dream. They have character, they have heart, they care. They are about team. Guys like Cliff Clinkscales, Billy White and Renaldo Dixon, all back from last years' team (see pic above).

Trying to make this team and this league a success is very hard work, and it's anything but guaranteed. Sure, we won the Championship last season which was fantastic. More importantly, our management team, our Coach Mike Leslie, and our Board are also daring to dream, and we are committed to making this a success.
