When we are kids, we don’t know what fear is. We are born with a free spirit, eager to try and to explore everything around us, but as we grow, we face some barriers. I still remember my parents saying “don’t do this” or “you are too young for that”. It is the way many of us are introduced to the fear of the unknown.
“Fear of the unknown… They are afraid of new ideas… They are loaded with prejudices. If something is new, I reject it immediately because it’s frightening to me. What they do instead is just stay with the familiar. “ Wayne Dyer
However, during our lives we will be even more exposed to the unknown and we will be subject to a high level of uncertainty: moving from high school to college, changing jobs or moving to a new city or country are just a few examples. The way we face these challenges will change our future, either getting closer to or more distant from our dreams.
As I mentioned in my last article, "Multidimensional career paths" it is about to be prepared for changes, “get comfortable with being uncomfortable”. Challenge yourself as much as possible, don’t be afraid of being judged or making mistakes. What drives you to step out of your comfort zone is the same that will make you conquer great things in your life.
“I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not who does not feel afraid, but who conquers that fear.” Nelson Mandela
In times where promoting innovation and being at the fore-front are competitive advantages, soft skills are increasingly important. Companies are looking for soft skills as entrepreneurial spirit and resilience, people that could take the risk to reshape a business. Together with technical knowledge, the called “soft skills” will help you to stand out of the crowd.
Dare to be bold …. Be courageous and challenge the status quo. Change your view… Modify the direction along the way or adapt to new ways. Continue evolving… Keep going in the face of hardship.

5 年Great reflection Gabrielle...reminds me another quote from challenging times: “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. I think it was the same who said “To reach a port we must set sail – Sail, not tie at anchor. Sail, not drift.” Thanks for sharing
