DAN'S WINE BLOG- THIS WEEK'S WINE REVIEW

THIS WEEK’S WINE REVIEW:

?As May is CHARDONNAY MONTH in the Adelaide Hills and I am posting on social media a different worthy Hills Chardonnay each day. So I thought I would just include a superb Chardonnay from tother part of our big, brown land for balance.

?This “little ripper” #Chardonnay comes from the cool Yarra Valley just outside of Melbourne.

?#SoumahWines make a wide array of exemplary cool-climate wines as well as importing a limited range of French and Italian wines which are close to their heart, such as, in the whites, an Italian Pinot Grigio and a Nascetta. In the reds, they bring in Lagrein, Nebbiolo and Barolo from Italy and a C?tes du Rh?ne.

?Turning back to their Chardonnay which I have reviewed several times in recent years, they have four wines. The first is a general wine made from across their resources, then there are two vineyard specific wines from the Hexham Vineyard and the Upper Ngumby Vineyard, each of which while having the same underlying flavours, have a different nuance due to the location of the vines.

?Then comes the “pièce-de-résistance”, the flagship Soumah Equilibrio 2022 Chardonnay (vegan friendly). OMG! This is the epitome of a cool-climate Chardy with a divine, lively bouquet of citrus (mainly lemons) with a dash of florals and a splash of stone fruit. It has a magnificent, mouth-filling, crisp palate with fabulous depth of flavour, great structure and a vibrant, refreshing, lingering finish with just a trace of fine vanillin oak. TRULY AWESOME!
