"Dano’s Delight: The Journey of Creating the Perfect Box"

Back in 2019 or 2020, I received a call from an old client who had moved on to a new company, Makova. This was no ordinary call. Makova Marketing had a project for Arla Foods (Dano) and, while they had engaged another vendor, doubts crept up about the quality that vendor could deliver. The task was a special one: producing a batch of boxes that would not only visually represent Dano in all its colorful glory but also be sturdy enough for their intended use.

Pressure and New Beginnings

My contact needed reassurance that I could deliver on this challenging request. Despite his confidence in me, his team was skeptical. New clients come with new challenges, and this was about showing off what I could do under tight deadlines. The idea was clear: I had to exceed expectations.

Collaborative Design Process

As the project progressed, the first task was to tackle the design. Though they presented an initial concept, it needed refinement to make it suitable for print. Working with their in-house creative team, we engaged in several rounds of collaboration, ensuring that both parties were satisfied with the final print-friendly design.

The deadline was tight—just one week—and the timeframe squeezed into the chaotic end-of-year rush, a period filled with various other printing projects. Prioritizing Makova's project, we pushed through, determined to beat the clock and maintain quality.

Incredibly, within five days, we had completed the production of the boxes. With no margin for error, there was the understandable anxiety about meeting the high standards Dano expected. But when delivery day arrived, the response was overwhelmingly positive. The client was ecstatic, perfectly embodying the blend of aesthetics and utility they desired. This project opened the doors to subsequent orders, transforming a skeptical start into a solid working relationship.
