This month, you can meet us at Folkem?det and at an AI conference in Herning. We also published the first article in a new series on Danish design and the seventh and—for now—last case article in our Mission Playbook.
This month, much of the content is in Danish. We're testing what works best, so please let us know your opinion at [email protected].
Remember the sunscreen out there. We'll be back again in August. Until then, stay tuned on LinkedIn.
- The Danish Design Award is back - submissions open June 6 at 12 noon. We look forward to once again celebrating the most inspiring and innovative Danish design solutions when DDA returns this year. We will open for submissions on Thursday, June 6, and unveil the award's new concept. Follow DDA's LinkedIn here.
- Meet us at Folkem?det. We're part of a number of events this year at Folkem?det. Find out which here.
- New series: Danish design in a time of change. In a new series of articles, we examine how the good story about Danish design sounds in 2024. In the 1940s and 1950s, Danish design was a significant driving force in the development of our society. Can and dare Danish design also be that force today? We explore this with designers, companies, and experts. Read the first article in the series here.
- Conference: AI's Innovation Potential in the Lifestyle Industry. Meet Christina Melander, our director of digital transition, at the AI conference on June 19. Christina participates in a panel debate on AI as an innovative sales, marketing, and development force. The conference is aimed at those who work with management, product development, production, design, marketing, and sales within the furniture, fashion, and design industries and who want to strengthen their business through new technology. - New project: Danish Artisans and Designers to Strengthen the Environmental Footprint. Danske Kunsth?ndv?rkere & Designere, Kulturens Analyseinstitut, and DDC - Danish Design Center are entering into a new collaboration to enhance the green footprint and create debate and new buying habits among consumers. The goal is to develop a digital platform called the Green Craft & Design Guide, which gives consumers and practitioners tools to act more sustainably. Read more about the project here
This article illuminates some of the experiences, tools, and models we’ve deployed in our mission projects.
It takes its point of departure from a recent collaboration with ATV, the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences. ?
In the first part of the article, you get:
- A short introduction to mission-oriented innovation
- How we adopt it in DDC
- The methodological framework we have used to underpin the ATV collaboration.
In the second part of the article, you are introduced to:
- ATV’s aspiration to work mission-oriented
- How we helped design so-called “mission labs” – a format ATV has used to engage the science and engineering ecosystem to most effectively accelerate a sustainable transition towards a fossil-free, biobased, and digital future. ?
The ATV case outlines three learnings that we observed during the project and that we believe will serve as informative insights for people interested in undertaking similar endeavors:
- ATV as a Transition Broker: The importance of intermediary capacity
- ATV as a Testing Ground: The value of an experimental approach
- ATV as an Agile Facilitator: The significance of a steering committee.
We're back again in August. ?
