The NRA has been telling Americans for decades that the rationale behind the right to own assault weapons is that they could rise up against injustice perpetrated by our own government.
What happened in Dallas with 5 police officers killed and many more cops wounded as they were doing their jobs shows how flawed that logic is.
The language and self-serving logic of the gun lobby is leading America away from Democracy and towards a civil and race war.

8 年And, I'd like to add that automatic firearms require much higher shooter's qualification that single-shot one, even semi-auto. Moreover, anyone who wishes van easily make a kind of machine gun out of an ordinary pistol (Glock, Beretta, etc.) - but it will have no any precision. Again, weapon dont kill, people kill. Believe me. I am a person of a very peaceful profession, but I saw a lot in this life.

8 年The point is the population mentality. Look on Israel - everybody is armed, but there are nearly no murders where firearms were used.

8 年I mean - prohibition of firearms sale WILL NOT stop killers. The one who wants kill will do it anyway. And, people must have right for personal protection. PS A crazy professional (e g Afghan, Chechnya, Vietnam veteran) can kill with a knife more people that a crazy dilettante with assault rifle (30..45 shots) for the same time - both in case that he wouldn't be stopped. E g by normal person having a gun.
