Daner's Digest: A November to Remember

By the numbers: Here’s what key indices did in the month of November 2023.

  • S&P 500: up 8.92% to 4,568
  • Nasdaq Composite: up 10.67% to 14,226
  • Dow Jones: up 8.77% to 35,951
  • 10 Year Treasury yield: 4.37%
  • 12 Month Treasury yield: 5.16%

A bit of perspective: A combination of lower inflation and rising consumer confidence resulted in a huge rally for stocks and falling treasury yields in November.

Softer jobs data was cheered by market bulls, potentially indicating that Fed tightening is showing its intended effects by cooling the economy. But we don’t want things to cool too much! Think Goldilocks — we want it to be “just right.”

November featured a complete reversal in sentiment from October, which had been the third month of declining stocks in a row. Headwinds remain, but you wouldn’t know it by glancing at the major stock market averages this month.

Long-term investing continues to be the ticket.

Great share! With all the conflicting information out there it's nice to have a simplified overview. Saves me the time of doing the research myself.
