Dandiya Night at Sinhgad Institutes – A Night to Remember

Dandiya Night at Sinhgad Institutes is an out-of-the-world experience.?After two years of Covid imposed restrictions Dandiya Night came like a gushing waterfall – beautiful, vibrant, and absolutely mind-boggling.

Well, what do you expect? I am a Management student of SIOM – Sinhgad Institute of Management, one of the most premier institutes for Management education in the region. Dandiya is no exception. In fact, Dandiya is a goldmine of learning.?Yes, Dandiya at Vadgaon Campus of Sinhgad Institutes provides a lot of fun and a lot of learning – a good combo offer, I must admit.

Right from conceptualizing the event to unfolding it smoothly, surely you will agree that there are challenges all around. Managing a crowd of over twenty thousand students – all going berserk dancing to the dandiya tunes! ?First of all, why is such a mammoth event done? What are the benefits?

First and foremost – this is a student-centric event. Students enjoy it full-on. They forget themselves and let go. They can also see how well their professors are taking care of them. They see their Professors in a different light, in a different setting outside the classroom, allowing them to enjoy themselves under the safety of their watchful eyes. This is something embedded in the culture of Sinhgad Institutes. I am much grateful to my Director Dr. Daniel Penkar Sir and all my Professors for this wonderful experience.

Talking of learnings next comes the learning of values, ethics, devotion and jubilation, and most of all memories of wonderful campus life. Values of discipline, of managing oneself and one’s colleagues in any crowded celebration setting, values of bonding, and so on – all this has to be an out-of-classroom experience only – what we generally say experiential learning.

Dandiya is in anyways, all about jubilation and devotion. Some know the Navratri stories and some recite them to their friends – a beautiful culture moves progressively ahead from generation to generation.?Being a festival of music and dance, it gels with the youth tremendously. They are attracted to the event and look forward to it. It is not uncommon to see even old people performing the Dandiya dance, surely, they were college students sometime in their life and they have carried on with this for their life, as a lifelong celebration. This gift of celebration organized by Sinhgad Institutes is something we will remember for our whole life. And since it is a festival of dance and music almost every college is organizing it and what makes us proud is that we are the best. The best-organized Dandiya is at Sinhgad Institutes.
