Dancing the September-Blues or the September-Boost?

Dancing the September-Blues or the September-Boost?

Does it do the same thing to you than it does to me? Every year, when September comes, I get this very special feeling which is hard to properly describe to other people but that I suspect some of you may feel. It is a mixture of anxiety, apprehension but also determination to regroup and give the best of myself for the rest of the year. As far as I could think, I have always had that feeling and as time passes, I enter new phases of my life but the feeling very much stays.

·????????1- School Starts…

Back in the years, this feeling was connected to the start of a new school year. You’ve finished your holidays; you spent weeks enjoying yourself with family and friends and now all of it come to an end. While you are happy and impatient to see what the new year has to bring to you, you are nevertheless sad to end the vacation.

Yes, I’m not a student anymore (If not a Student of Life) and for many years, the school connection had disappeared and it was liberated from that but since my son started school, it has come back with vengeance??. By the sound of things, I’m in for another decade at least. I nevertheless get comfort from knowing that there must be other parents sharing the same sentiments.

·????????Autumn is coming…

?I guess another reason why September has this particular flavour for me, is simply because it marks the beginning of the end of Summer and the progressive start of Autumn. The perspective of fighting the cold one more time is not something I particularly relinquish as an African boy. Paradoxically, I have never been sensitive to cold, however it is something else to open it with open arms either. When I’m a multi-millionnaire, you can bet that I would not hesitate to ship myself back somewhere in the continent during the winter months, unless I have managed to fully relocate as currently planned. What would be the destination? The bets are open …

·????????The 4th quarter is around?

Ever since I’m a businessman, September also means now the end of the third quarter and after that ?the start of the fourth: the money time quarter like we say in basketball. This particular one could be stressful. You are starting to think about all your goals and your objectives and depending on how well you’ve performed to date, your feeling will not be the same. Do you think you are a little bit short? Do not worry too much. You still have 3 full months to go and that is plenty of time, providing you are carefully using every second of it. On my case, I made a commitment to myself to make it a breakthrough year and subsequentially decided not to take holidays. I’m ready to do whatever it would take to get myself to smile wide when the end of the year comes. Yes, I must admit, while I have been dancing the Blues in previous year, the time has come for me now to dance the Boost. Would you dance with me?
