Recently I gave a speech to an audience of about a thousand. I had done this before so it wasn't new to me, but I still feared all that could go wrong up until I actually got on the stage. Once I was on stage, the fear melted away.?
What I find interesting about my observations is that at the moment that fear should have been present most, it wasn't. Being on stage should have been the only moment where I experienced fear, yet I didn't.?
Will Smith tells a story about the fear he had around skydiving for the first time. He woke up numerous times the night before thinking about all the terrible things that could happen. He was filled with fear driving from the hotel room and terrified while he was getting strapped on the flight up. He was still consumed by fear as he walked to the edge of the plane believing that he was staring death in the face.
But as he flew through the air, he felt complete bliss. Again, this should have been the moment his fear peaked, yet it wasn't present. Will said, "The point of maximum danger is the point of minimum fear."?
