Dance Like A Kid At A Wedding

Dancing is a universal language that transcends age, gender, and culture. It is a form of self-expression that allows us to let loose and enjoy the moment. A child's natural ability to dance with abandon and without self-consciousness is a reminder that we should all strive to live in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest.
I was reminded of this when I went to a wedding with my family many years ago. My daughters Carolyn and Hannah were dressed up in matching outfits, and they were having the time of their lives on the dance floor. They were twirling, spinning, and jumping with such intensity and focus that they didn't even notice the 300 other people watching them. They were lost in the moment, just enjoying the sheer joy of dancing.
Watching my daughters dance made me realize that as adults, we tend to overthink things and worry too much about what others think. We become self-conscious and lose the ability to let go and just have fun. But watching my children dance reminded me that life is a dance, and we should all wear our pretty dresses and go with the beat.
The next day, we visited the Museum of Natural History in New York City, and I asked Carolyn what she wanted to be when she grew up. Her answer was simple and direct: "I want to be a Dinosaur Doctor that dances and live on a farm with lots of animals, because I like to do all these things." Her answer was a reminder that when we're young, we imagine a world where we can do what we love, what interests us, and what is fun. We should strive to maintain this childlike mindset and approach life with the same enthusiasm and wonder.

So this weekend, let's all take a cue from my daughters and dance like no one is watching. Let's forget about our worries and fears and focus on the joy and experience of the moment. Let's make life a dance, wear our prettiest dresses, and go with the beat.

If you need to smile, laugh and take a break from the stress of the world today I am saying "you are aloud to enjoy life" even if just for a dance!
