Dakota's Wellness Tip: Ladies, Do You Know The Signs of a Heart Attack?
Did you know that the signs and symptoms of heart attack are different for women than men?
Common symptoms of a heart attack in women:
- Neck, jaw, shoulder, upper back or upper belly (abdomen) discomfort.
- Heartburn (indigestion).
- Unusual fatigue.
- Shortness of breath.
- Pain in one or both arms.
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Sweating.
- Lightheadedness or dizziness.
Many of these symptoms do not seem abnormal or characteristic of a traditional heart attack and as a result often go undetected. This is why heart attacks are called the, "silent killer."
Men can also have these symptoms however, characteristic signs for men are chest pain and left arm pain.
Call 911 if you think you or someone know is having a heart attack.
