Daily Work for the Grace of God

Daily Work for the Grace of God

Recently, a good friend approached me, stating that they lacked a sense of satisfaction in 2024. After a long conversation, here is what we discovered:

·??????? Change can lead to a loss of identity – this person retired

·??????? Time management skills adjusted. For example, sleep routines changed, fitness habits changed, and goal setting looked different.

·??????? Positive aspects increased: community involvement through volunteering and their ambition for education increased.

It is easy to be hard on ourselves, especially from November through December. Each year, many people report overeating, drinking, and binge-watching TV, which contributes to less joy. Joy is found with God’s grace.

Many people who retire or change jobs will adjust their mindset from servant to self. First, they start sleeping in... because they can. Then, their schedules are off, and they begin to say there is not enough time in a day. They may gain a few pounds. They start to say yes to too many things and put off the most important things. Next, they report a loss of contentment.

When a schedule changes, we must stay disciplined. The mindset, "What about me?" is dangerous and will leave us unsatisfied. People report joy when they stick to a productive schedule and make time for healthy habits.

Here are a few healthy DAILY habits to consider for 2025:

1)?Morning reflections (help manage stress)

2)?Breathing exercises (helps reduce blood pressure)

3)?Exercising (releases the feel-good hormones)

4)?Eating more whole foods (reduce risk of heart disease & diabetes – my family takes Juice Plus)

5) Sleep (emotional regulation)

6)?Drink more water (your brain functions better when hydrated)

7)?Track body composition measurements (give you an indication of fat, muscle, water, and bone in the body; I use Lepulse)

8)?Read (prevents cognitive decline as you age)

Remember: Your body is the temple. The Holy Spirit needs to work through you. Honor God and bring glory to him in our body (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

2025 = Schedule set times to focus on the things you value most. YOU run the day; The day does not run YOU!
