Good Morning Gentle Reader…. Stars twinkling in the heavens this morning as Bella and I set out for her first walk of the day..but heavy clouds are building over Gibraltar in the west, it is Autumn after all I suppose we must expect changeable weather, the leaves change color, the wind blows colder and and the weather changes, quite why it comes as a surprise to us I don't know …

ASDA SORRY FOR 'ISLE OF WHITE' SHOPPING BAG GAFFE…. The opening of Asda's first store on the Isle of Wight made an impression for all the wrong reasons after special bags produced to mark the occasion included the spelling "Isle of White".

The retailer opened the doors to its Newport store on Monday and offered shoppers the chance to buy 10,000 bags designed by two island children. Bosses obviously did not check them properly as they included the mistake. Asda said it was "hanging our heads" and promised to get the bags reprinted. A spokeswoman said: "This was a genuine printing error and we're in the process of reproducing the exclusive design to get back on sale as quickly as possible. "We're hanging our heads for making such a silly mistake on our bags for life for our new Isle of Wight store."

A WOMAN SENT PICTURES OF HERSELF TO HER INSURERS INSTEAD OF HER CAR…. When Alyssa Stringfellow from Arkansas, US, tried to get insured on her grandmother's car it seems she got a bit mixed up by the details requested. Instead of sending pictures of her car, Alyssa sent the insurers side and front photos of herself. The 25-year-old teacher was left red-faced when the insurer contacted her by email to point out the mistake. "I am going to need pictures like you just took, except it needs to be of your vehicle," it read.

Instead of trying to forget the awkward blunder, Alyssa was good natured about it all and decided to share the photos on social media. "I have been debating on whether or not to post this all day because it is PRETTY embarrassing to admit, but I have decided to go ahead and share my really, really...REALLY blonde moment with you guys." She posted on Facebook. Alyssa then described how the mix-up unfolded when her grandmother told her about the details the insurers had requested. "She said he would need my driver's license number, my date of birth, and a picture straight on and a picture taken from each side. She gave me his email address and I emailed the information along with the pictures that night," She explained. "The crazy thing is, I asked my mom to take the pictures after I got off work, and we discussed why in the world he would need pictures of me, never once considering it was supposed to be of my car. "But, you know what they say, you either have book smarts or street smarts, and I definitely do not have the latter," she joked. Alyssa's embarrassing admission has been shared more than 20,000 times since being posted of Facebook last week, with users of the social media continuing to post their reactions. One Facebook user commented: "I read this last night and laughed sooooooo hard! So funny! And I see where the confusion came from." While hundreds of other people admitted they would probably have made exactly the same mistake: "I would do something like that too," posted another Facebook user. "Don't feel bad! We all have those moments. All we can do is shake our heads and say God, what was I thinking!"

HOLY SMOKE: VATICAN BANS DUTY-FREE CIGARETTE SALES…. Pope Francis has ordered a ban on the sale of cigarettes inside the Vatican, beginning next year. Vatican spokesman Greg Burke said the Holy See could not co-operate with a practice that clearly harmed people's health. About 5,000 employees and retired staff of the Vatican are currently allowed to buy discounted cigarettes.

The sales are estimated to bring in millions of euros every year to the Vatican. But Mr Burke said no amount of profit could be legitimate if it was costing people their lives. He cited World Health Organization figures that blame smoking for more than seven million deaths worldwide every year . "I think many people enjoyed it as sort of a fringe benefit," he said. "It comes as a bit of a sacrifice for the Holy See, this was a source of revenue, but it's obviously much more important to do what is right." Pope Francis, who had a lung removed as a teenager, does not smoke. Vatican staff and pensioners are permitted to buy five cartons of cigarettes every month from a duty-free shop, housed in a former railway station, which is only open to those with a special pass.

Correspondents say many non-smokers inside the Vatican are asked by friends outside to buy cigarettes for them because they are cheaper than in Italy where they are heavily taxed.

LITTLE GIRL'S STOLEN PUPPY RETURNED BY REMORSEFUL THIEVES…. A little girl's puppy has been reunited with her family, seemingly returned by the same thieves who stole her. Sasha, an eight-week-old Labrador, was taken during a burglary in Melbourne on Monday morning - along with a laptop, an iPad, and some jewellery. The family told Australian news outlets they were "devastated" at the loss of four-year-old Maia's "best friend". But on Thursday, Sasha was discovered in the garden, apparently dropped there by the remorseful thieves. The puppy, who the owners said had a medical condition that needed attention, had only been part of the family for a week when she was taken.

RITZ-CARLTON RIYADH HOTEL 'A PRISON FOR SAUDI PRINCES'…. It is a brand that boasts of "luxury hotels and resorts that craft unforgettable travel experiences in the world's top destinations". Presidents, prime ministers and royalty have all been hosted by the upmarket chain Ritz-Carlton, a home away from home for the well-heeled. But according to reports, the chain's hotel in the Saudi capital Riyadh has become a gilded cage. Just months after hosting US President Donald Trump on his first foreign trip as head of state, numerous prominent Saudis are said to be guests of the government - and the hotel is being dubbed the world's most luxurious prison. Eleven princes, four ministers and many more have been swept up in what the Saudi authorities describe as an anti-corruption purge in the ultra-conservative kingdom. Internationally-known billionaire businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is reported to be among those held.
