The wild and crazy winds of the past few days have all blown them selves away and a quiet has descended on the small town of Estepona the place I call home, all that remains of the "Huffing and Puffing" of nature is the debris, broken palm tree branches litter the streets along with the ubitus plastic shopping bags and leaves from the trees, as Bella and I walk this morning we can see the street cleaners hard at work and the tractors are readying the beach so things are back to normal....……
Good Morning I’m Robert McAngus and this is The Daily Thistle…. Drunken sailors went on the rampage at Faslane nuclear submarine base trashing its bar and in-house cinema. MoD police are investigating the incident which occurred on Friday night and is reported to have involved officers who had returned to Helensburgh from Picture: submitted a three-month patrol. The damage caused to the wardroom bar, which is reserved for officers’ use, included a projector being ripped from the ceiling at the base’s cinema, an heirloom diving helmet being broken and photographs smashed. A source told the Lennox Herald that a young lieutenant was found asleep under a piano in the morning. The bar and surrounding area have now been sealed off as MoD police collect fingerpints in a bid to identify those responsible. After the extent of the damage was discovered, a report was sent to Faslane senior commander Commodore Mark Gayfer. A source at the base said: “The place was a wreck. It was like a bunch of football hooligans had been scrapping in a bar. It looks like things got out of hand and they just went around smashing anything they could get their hands on for the sake of it. “When a member of civilian staff went in the next morning one of the young officers was lying asleep under a piano in the bar. He was oblivious to the trouble he was in and went up to his quarters to sleep it off.” A Royal Navy spokesman confirmed that they were investigating an alleged incident of criminal damage.
A family doctor has been suspended for two months after punching an aggressive man he was treating in the street. Dr Martin Thom, 43, had been dispatched by a 999 call handler because the only ambulance in Fraserburgh was on an emergency call. But the GP snapped and thumped the patient twice in the head before pushing him against a wall when he believed the drunken victim was resisting his attempts to check him over. Thom, who has worked at Saltoun Surgery in the Aberdeenshire town for 11 years, had already completed a morning and afternoon shift at the surgery when he was called out. He was later convicted of assault at Peterhead Sheriff Court and was fined ￡360. At Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester, Thom, who lives in Ellon, near Aberdeen, faced being struck off but he was suspended for two months after he apologised for his behaviour, which he put down to stress.
A Scottish land owner claimed nearly ￡3 million in farming subsidies from the European Union last year. Frank Smart, (What an apt name) who owns land near the village of Banchory in Aberdeenshire, received the most money in the UK under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The European Union (EU) payout scheme was developed at the end of the Second World War to combat food shortages. However, the policy has been criticised over the years with some payments only requiring landowners to keep the area in good agricultural and environmental condition. Mr Smart received more than ￡2,900,000 in direct aid in 2015, with the bulk of the money coming under the single area payment scheme. The landowner has previously been branded a “slipper farmer” - a term applied to those using EU rules to buy up subsidy entitlements and then renting out the land without actually producing crops or keeping livestock themselves.

The former clan seat was advertised for sale in October 2014 after plans to convert Dall House into a private members’ club were rejected. It is currently on the market for offers over ￡7.5 million.
I'm thinking of moving.... The Outer Hebrides is officially the happiest place to live in the United Kingdom. That is the verdict of a Government wellbeing survey which questioned people’s levels of happiness around the UK. The Western Isles is the place where people gave the highest score to the question, ‘how happy were you yesterday?’. Respondents rated their average happiness as 8.2 out of 10 in 2015/16, up from 8.1 in 2014/15, meaning the area overtakes Fermanagh and Omagh in Northern Ireland, which was the happiest place in 2013/14 and 2014/15, as the happiest place in the UK. People in East Northamptonshire are the least likely to give high marks for happiness the day before, with people there scoring an average of 7 out of 10. People in Mid and East Antrim find have the highest life satisfaction, rating it as 8.4 out of 10, while people in Corby have the lowest, 6.9 out of 10. People in Hammersmith and Fulham felt the most anxious, scoring levels the previous day at 3.7 out of 10, while those in the Orkney Islands were the least anxious, just 1.9 out of 10.
