A daily struggle for your thoughts

A daily struggle for your thoughts

So many of us are unaware that there’s a constant nonstop battle going on between two competing voices in our heads, day in and day out, it’s literally relentless. It’s a brilliant conversation though, to be honest when you take time out to actually listen to the conversation between the pair of them. It’s an internal struggle between the two of them for your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, what you think about yourself, what you say to yourself about yourself, what you say about yourself to others and it’s all about I “can or cannot”, I am “enough or not enough”, I am “lovable or unlovable”, it goes on and on and on.

I like to call one of these “Diamond” and the other one “Demon”, you figure out which one is preferable.

Think about this for a few moments. Your thoughts, what you focus on, your attitudes and what you believe determines what happens and shows up in your life. I hope you are with me so far, if you are not, read that back again if you are unsure. The hard part though is ignoring the negative voice of “Demon” who is trying to convince you not to chase your dreams because these are uncertain and, in all fairness, you are unlovable, unworthy, not good enough, useless and all that nasty stuff and listen to “Diamond”. Taking control of these voices by actively choosing positive thoughts that influence your focus, your thoughts, feelings and emotions, values, and beliefs for whatever it is that you call success can be a bit of a challenge, a challenge but not an impossible challenge and a challenge worth taking because it’s a life changing.

The “Diamond” for me is my good orderly direction (the right way forward) — the voice of wisdom, guidance, awareness, and all that good stuff, he’s the jam in my jelly roll. And as for “Demon” — well this fella really just wants to mess things up for, create chaos, help me to feel better about not feeling better about myself and generally create a living hell for me here on earth.

The Diamond represents your empowering voice, the one that you want to win in any horse race, and there is a horse race on each and every day for your thoughts, feelings, and your emotions. But “Diamond” the poor fella, is often overshadowed by the loud and fear-driven “Demon”. Before you wake in the morning, the two horses have been waiting in the starting gate for a few hours battling for your subconscious mind and waiting for your conscious mind to wake up. So, there they are, the pair of them, at the starting gate, rearing to do. “Diamond”, a beautiful Lipizzaner Stallion from Austria, all kitted out in his white Jacket and white hat, Diamond knows all about “DAZ whiter than white laundry Powder” and he is literally gleaming, I mean it’s a morning for the Ray Ban’s. “Demon”, the black Thoroughbred, black jacket and a black cap is rearing to go. The tension is electric at the starting gate then “Boom”, you wake up and off we go all day long at the races.

Demon gets out a head knowing that the race can be won or lost at the starting gate, maybe you said to yourself when you woke up “I’m unlovable” or something like that and all the while, its Demon that bombards you with fearful voices, you’re not good enough and all that rubbish. But in comes Diamond on the inside, fuelled by love, kindness, compassion, empathy, humility, awareness and holding all the power to prevail. Diamond being fully aware of the situation in hand starts asking “What am I grateful for today?” and he whips out a piece of paper and starts writing about all that you are grateful for….”Diamond” takes the lead but stumbles at the second hurdle for a for a minute or two but whips out a few trump cards like “I am kind, I am caring, I am lovable, I am worthy, I am valued, I am wanted, I am compassionate, I am empathetic, I am enough just as I am” and gets ahead of “Demon”. They hit a few more hurdles but Diamond is steadfast, full of determination, perseverance, and oozing resilience.

Diamond makes it to finish line with plenty more left in reserve and is looking forward to tomorrow’s race for he has created his own winning and Unstoppable formula for finishing the race.

Whatever you practice in life you become good at. Whether you practice negative or positive thoughts, you become really, and I mean really good at, actually you become your own expert. The “Demon” thrives on fear, whereas the “Diamond” is powered by love..and where there is love, fear cannot exist.

Here’s to choosing LOVE over Fear and to listening to the Winning voice and formula of your “Diamond” all day, every day, especially…TODAY ????????
