Daily Rules For Entrepreneurs To Spark More Energy And Boost Brain Power

If you want to look, feel and perform at your best each day, incorporate this idea:

MOVEMENT:  With podcasts, webinars and social media, we work behind a computer even more than10 years ago — or even 5 years ago. And with more and more entrepreneurs starting online businesses, it’s important to find creative ways to keep the body moving.

Some say that ‘sitting is the new smoking,’ but research has shown that being sedentary for longer than one hour at any given point during the day can wreak havoc on your health, even if you exercise at the beginning or end of the day. So the trick is not to attempt to squeeze in a masochistic ‘sufferfest’ of exercise before or after work, but to instead set up movement habits and equip your personal environment to allow you to engage in low level physical activity all day long — whether at the office, in the car or on an airplane.

Ideas:

  • Start each day with 5-10 minutes of deep breathing and yoga to increase oxygenation and blood flow.
  • Get a standing workstation and ideally a treadmill, a balance mat and a stool next to that workstation so you can switch positions and movements during the day.
  • Keep a hand grip trainer and a breath resistance trainer in your car so you can train your grip and lungs while stuck in traffic.
  • Perform one hundred jumping jacks for each hour that you sit and forty body weight squats each time you use the restroom.
  • Keep your office slightly cold to force your body to burn calories to maintain heat, and to force you to get up and move throughout the day.
  • Request an aisle seat on airplanes so you can meander to the rear of the plane for stretches, arm swings and leg swings each hour.
