Comair Sues Boeing for Fraud Over the 737 MAX

The former South African airline Comair Limited filed a lawsuit in federal court against The Boeing Company, claiming fraud and breach of contract over the purchase of eight 737 MAX aircraft.

Comair is seeking damages in excess of $83 million, which it claims it suffered as a result of Boeing’s wrongful conduct.

The South African airline previously conducted scheduled domestic services as a subsidiary of British Airways and?ceased operations?in June last year.

President Zelenskyy Arrives in London Stansted on RAF C-17

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has arrived in London Stansted via an RAF C-17 Globemaster ahead of meetings with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

As per data from RadarBox.com, Zelenskyy was transported over to London Stansted by ZZ178 under the callsign RRR6373.

RRR6373, the?RAF?aircraft, departed Rzeszow Airport in Poland at 0919 local time and arrived at London Stansted at 1019 local time.

SWISS resumes services to Shanghai

Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) has become the latest airline to resume scheduled passenger services to Shanghai.

In view of the now-eased entry provisions for Mainland China, SWISS has advised it will resume its passenger services between Zurich and Shanghai from 3 March. One weekly flight is currently planned on the route for the month of March.

Service on the route should then be expanded to three weekly frequencies from April onwards. The flights will principally be operated by the carrier's Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The Airbus A340-300 may operate the route as an alternative.

Safety measures introduced after Ryanair wheel fire at Manchester Airport

According to a recently released Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) report, an incident involving a wheel fire on a Ryanair Boeing 737 last year has raised a safety action by the wheel manufacturer and the aircraft operator.

The incident in question occurred at?Manchester Airport?on 17 March 2022 at 0045 hours local time. A Ryanair Boeing 737-8AS registered EI -TNF was taxiing to the gate after landing when an outboard wheel on the left main undercarriage gear failed due to a fatigue crack in the wheel hub.

The wheel failure caused a hydraulic leak from the brake cylinder, which then resulted in the fire developing due to the heat generated by the misaligned wheel.

Neos Air takes delivery of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft

Milan-based carrier Neos Air (Neos) has taken delivery of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The carrier becomes a new customer for lessor CDB Aviation, a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Ltd.

Neos, which operates services from Italy and Europe to the Americas, Asia, and Africa, plans to deploy the two aircraft, configured with 186 single class seats, on intra-European and intercontinental routes.

“We look forward to building a strong working partnership with our newest European customer in Italy, Neos,” commented?Paul Boyle, CDB Aviation’s Head of Commercial, EMEA.

Lynx Air’s inaugural flight to Phoenix launches from Calgary

Canadian ultra-low-cost airline Lynx Air (Lynx) has launched its inaugural flight from Calgary to Phoenix today.

The service will operate thrice weekly from Calgary International Airport (YYC) to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) aboard the airlines brand-new Boeing 737 aircraft.

“We are excited to be launching our very first flight to Phoenix at such a festive time of the year, with the city hosting the world’s largest golf tournament as well as the Super Bowl this week,” said?Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx.
