A Thought to Ponder from Jim Rohn: "Discipline weighs ounces; regret weighs tons."
The Back Story
I almost died in 2008 from a sub-arachnoid hemorrhage when I was working on a high-intensity developmental project in Washington, D.C. I spent two weeks in an ICU as a result, and was nursed back to health by my lady friend over a two-month period. After that recovery, I happened to be walking in a Washington neighborhood named Adams Morgan and noticed a store that sold Tibetan art and textiles. I found a scroll that had a longish quote on it from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The title on the scroll was: A Precious Human Life. The title and the content of the scroll resonated with me at a deep level because of my recent near-death experience. Nothing changes your life like such an experience. I bought the scroll and one other to hang on the wall of my apartment.
My Daily Discipline Among Others
I now have that scroll hanging in my bathroom here in Reno and I read it every day as I step out of the shower. I have changed some of the words to reflect a bit of own thinking about life. I present the revised version below for your edification and if you wish to borrow it for your own daily discipline or practice.
A Precious Human Life
"Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to have awakened. I am alive. I have a precious human life that is a gift from God.
I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself and to be compassionate towards everyone.
To strive for wisdom for the benefit of all of us.
I am going to have kind thoughts towards everyone.
I am not going to get angry or think badly about anyone.

I am going to benefit others as much as I can."
Daily Disciplines
I believe a daily discipline like saying this beautiful quote from the Dalai Lama is an excellent practice for all of us to follow. We should all have mental and physical practices that we perform every day to enhance our lives.
