Dear Berean TEAM and Friends –
1 Peter 5:5 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Many people today are seeking their own ways in trying to please themselves (1 Jn 2:16), but the child of God learns how to live by pleasing the Lord (Mt 6:33)! This is accomplished when we are "clothed with humility." True humility before the Lord is when we assume the place of a slave. Our Lord Jesus showed us a great example of this when He washed His disciples’ feet (Jn 13:15-16). When we learn to humble ourselves before the Lord, He will exalt us in His own way and in His own time (v. 6). As long as we seek to lift ourselves and promote our good qualities, we will never amount to much in our service for God. However, when we willingly fill the hands of God in consecration, He will use us for His glory (Jms 4:10)! We can do nothing without Christ (Jn 15:5). Paul said that he planted but “neither is he that planteth any thing” (1 Cor 3:6-7) – because it is God Who gives the increase! He is everything (Ps 73:25-26)! You cannot trust in your own riches or your accomplishments to enter the kingdom of God. But when you trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, all things are possible with Him (Mk 10:27). Paul said, “by the grace of God I am what I am” (1 Cor 15:10) – the fruit of his labor was solely because of God’s grace! Your ability to do something productive for the Lord is not about your intellect, money, personality, strength, or eloquence. Your ability to do something fruitful for the Lord rests solely with God (Jer 17:7-8). Unless Christ is bringing forth the fruit in you, it’s your own production and not His fruit (Gal 5:22). Humble yourself and let Jesus do through you what you could never do for Him (Php 4:13)! God bless you!
