Dads Day July 7
One year ago today this world lost a remarkable person, my Dad.?This Father's Day certainly wasn't the same knowing he was not coming through our doors to greet us with his smile, his hugs, and most importantly his love for the family.?I understand there comes a time for people to leave, however, the sadness still remains present.?These moments never get easier moving forward, they just become part of our lives.?Truth is, just because your physical presence is gone, it does not mean we can't carry on the values you taught us.?
I will share a few things that my dad taught me that impact the way I look at the world each day. He instilled in me that the most important thing about a person is their character and how they live their life. He told me to try to be honest and truthful (so you don’t have to make up stories later).?He pushed me to set goals based on what you like to do and to make plans to accomplish them, but to remember, that goals can be flexible.?
I see his character through the eyes of my girls.?I see the impact he left behind and how proud he would be.?My girls are filled with compassion and empathy, they believe deeply in treating others the way they want to be treated.?
July 7th will be a day we remember Dad!?We will cry, we will laugh, and we will never forget, but we will continue to make him proud up above.?We will share stories about my dad, and how he approached life, so my two girls can model his character and pay it forward.?We will talk about things he had done to help or support others, good deeds that he largely kept to himself.?
I miss you and I love you always. I pray that you are at peace and that there is a porch in heaven with your favorite white rocking chair so you can look out and see us all.?I hope that makes you smile dad. Your beautiful living legacy continues to grow and thrive and you will always be a part of us.
