Daddy, so he’s Big Dave!
I was out pumpkin picking with my family and I saw a colleague of mine.
After having a brief chat and saying bye his daughter asked who’s that man Daddy?
It’s Dave. He’s the big big boss.
Daddy, so he’s Big Dave!
I soon found my team of 60 people started to call me Big Dave. In fact people still call me Big Dave/BD to this day. Or even Kazakh Dave. And now Egyptian Dave.
And it’s just stuck. I certainly don’t moan about it, as nicknames for bosses are usually a whole lot worse!!
The link to recruitment
Things stick just as easily in recruitment. If people have a terrible experience. Or even an? exceptional experience it will stick.
So here’s my advice to make the positive remembered:

My final thoughts
Mud can stick. And reputations can suffer.
Recruitment is no different. In some ways it’s worse because when people don’t get their dream job it’s probably going to be?your fault. And unfortunately only one person will be offered the job so the risk of disappointment is extremely high!
However this can be avoidable by providing feedback, empathy, understanding and staying connected beyond the recruitment process.
But if you can provide an exceptional experience it will ensure people become a Raving Fan about your company and wouldn’t hesitate from applying again. And that has to be the aim.
As of today I have 80% capacity to recruit. So if you are struggling to recruit. Or know somebody else please put us in contact. Because if you have the tools, knowledge and experience recruitment is relatively straight forward even in todays candidate short market. And having filled my last two roles in three weeks I’m confident I can help you as well.
Stay lucky. Stay Jammy.
Talk next week.
