Da Paat Ta Freedum - Day 2.9
This morning we awake to very light rain but the forecast is for a chance of thunderstorms in the next four days. Weathermen can be spot on with the forecasting generally and only miss the target a few times when, guess what? The weather Changes. We’ll make plans accordingly and make the necessary adjustments.
Yesterday was a great day. We awoke to overcast skies and a cool 72 degrees. Everyone was riding like a champion. If last year one of my proudest moments was watching Najah climb hills and refuse to dismount this year it’s the surprising strength of Hla Win who is keeping pace like she’s done this cross country touring many times before. Sometimes keeping a pace of 15mph for a few miles. Just fantastic ability and growth and determination!
The ride was pretty good but mainly rural with corn and hops being grown. Lightly traveled roads and courteous drivers. Just the way we like it.
I’ve said this many times before about the National Parks and I’ll say it again because it’s just a fact for the title “Ranger” in general. They really know their stuff! We were given an impromptu lesson on the Carolina bays which is not what you think of like San Francisco. They are bays because of the types of vegetation and trees that grow within them. Like Bay trees. Think Old Bay seasoning. We swam in water the color of a brisk tea and was just as warm as tea.
We ended the night with bike maintenance by Tod and people going to be early. It’ll be interesting to see what today brings.
