The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce (SEZ Section), Government of India, has directed attention to the matter of covering Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Export Oriented Units (EOUs) under the RODTEP Scheme. This follows discussions initiated by the Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES) regarding the feasibility of integrating SEZs and EOUs into the scheme.

As per recent communications, there are ongoing considerations regarding the implementation of the RODTEP Scheme for SEZs and EOUs. While there are logistical challenges to address, efforts are underway to examine potential solutions.

The concerns raised by SEZ units regarding the utilization of multiple systems and potential transaction costs are being evaluated. Additionally, discussions are ongoing regarding the functionality of ICEGATE for SEZs and the possibility of streamlining processes to minimize operational complexities.

EPCES, representing the interests of SEZ units, SEZ developers, and EOUs, emphasizes the significance of this initiative in enhancing trade facilitation and promoting exports. With over 5700 members, including 4400 SEZ units and 930 EOUs, EPCES plays a vital role in advocating for the interests of the export-oriented sectors.
