D50 Membership Community

Mamma Emanuel must be so proud. She has three super high-powered sons.

Son number 1, Rahm, was chief of staff at the White House, a Member of

Congress and mayor of Chicago.

Son number 2, Arie, is perhaps the most powerful agent in Hollywood.

And son number 3, Ezekiel, is a physician, an oncologist, a professor, and

Chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University

of Pennsylvania Medical School.

Dr. Emmanuel is the author of a 2014 article in The Atlantic titled, "Why I Hope to Die at 75."

In the article he says: "I’m not committing suicide. I'm not asking for euthanasia. I'm just going to stop taking medications with the sole justification that the medication or intervention is to prolong my life."

He said he has heard plenty from those who dismiss his views with anecdotes: "'You know, my Aunt Nellie, she was clear as a bell at 94, and blah-blah-blah' ... But as I said in the [ Atlantic] article, there are outliers.

There are not that many people who continue to be active and engaged and actually creative past 75. It's a very small number."

Emanuel say he would prefer to maintain his energy, intellect and productivity right to the end. "But I think we also need to be realistic--that's not the way most of us are going to live." What he said he sees as a physician are people living longer but with more disabilities and diminished cognitive abilities.

There aren't that many highly intelligent people "writing brand-new books after 75, and really developing new areas where they are leading thinkers. They tend to be re-tilling familiar areas that they've worked on for a long time," Emanuel explained. My take: Dr. Emmanuel is honest enough to say what the vast majority of physicians are thinking.

They will treat you to their best ability past 75, but they are not expecting too much from you and believe you are enjoying your last few years on earth. And from my experience that starts subtly at 65, not 75. They are simply not going to go the extra mile. They are just going to say that everything looks great “for your age”. And this, my friends, is the reality of what we are up against.

It’s not just getting access to the latest medicine and science that counts – its avoiding having anyone in your circle of influence that thinks like Dr. Emmanuel – even a little.

That’s why the D50 membership community is as critical or MORE critical than the Grand Masters.

Surrounding yourself with a group of brilliant, highly successful, heart centered individuals that all support you and are rowing in the same direction is spectacular and will make all the difference in helping you outperform what conventional medicine expects from you. And creating a close relationship with one of the few docs as who sees a really big future for you is obviously hyper critical.

This is what makes the daVinci50 so unique and magical.

Stay close to your fellow members and watch out for the Dr. Emmanuel’s.

They will kill you!
