D365BC Wave 1 2022: Users can export report datasets to XML

Are you ready for the new features under the?Reporting?Field?of?Dynamics 365 Business Central?

The data set is a collection of feeds based on the data collected from the tables, which is then used in the layout to present the reports for the users. Microsoft added a tiny but essential functionality to the reports area in this version, allowing users to transmit the report data set to Excel without using the layout option, allowing them to see the data set that will be used to build the report output.

In this?2022 release wave 1 plan, Microsoft has made it possible for?users and developers to acquire the report data set into xml format, which they can use to either store the data for compliance or integration scenarios, or troubleshoot the reports during development.

Let’s now take a look in these new configurations.

First, select the icon??and enter?Customers.

On the?Customers?page, click?Report?then?Customer – Order Summary.

The?Customer – Order Summary?page will appear after you click the?Customer – Order Summary?button. You may now view more options by clicking?Send to.

When you select the?Send to?button, other options appear, including the?XTML document, which is a newly introduced feature. You can now choose an?XTML document?to download the report’s data set, and as soon as you select that option and click?OK, the system will generate the xml file and download it for you so that you can see the data set that will be used to generate the output.
