D365BC Wave 1 2022: Two-digit year evaluates to 1950-2049 range

Hello there,?Dynamics 365 Lovers!

Thinking about the new features of?Dynamics 365 Business Central?

In the previous version of Business Central, when you input a two-digit year column or year part of a date the default approach was to use your windows settings, and there were varied actions based on different operating systems and other settings that you might be able to configure on your windows device.

However, in this?2022 release wave 1, If you’re using Business Central Online,?the input for a year field to digital field will be transposed or converted between 1950 and 2049. But, if you’re using Business Central on premise, this change won’t affect you much, but you can customize it based on the server option (calendar to digit year max) to get a comparable experience.

Let’s now take a look in these new configurations.

To begin, look through your windows for the?Date Settings. When you click it, a clock should appear; from here, you can change the date and time by clicking?Change date and time.

Next, click Change calendar settings.

Then when it shows the Customize Format tab, click Date. The calendar setting to interpret the year that you are entering is shown here. As you can see, it’s similar to what Microsoft is doing right now.

Click?Sales?on the main page of Business Central, then click?Sales Orders?to test this feature. Alternatively, you can select the icon, enter?Sales Orders, and then select the related link.

In this example, I enter 2050 in the year field and the system automatically rejects it because 2050 is not a valid value.

However, if I enter 2049 or any year between 1950 and 2049, the system will accept it. Remember that when you enter dates with two digits, particularly in the year column, the value will be interpreted or evaluated between 1950 and 2049.

Hope this will help.
