Microsoft Dynamics D365 Supply Chain Management | Demand Planning Power App

Have you ever been scared in this world? Can you encapsulate the phenomenon of getting scared? How long we can respect the “state of sacredness”?

?

Abstract:

Forecasting is a process of making predictions based on past and present data. Forecast planning is much like the master plan, it is based on a prediction of future sales.? The accuracy of the forecast depends on the inputs, the amount of certainty, and the predictability of the models.?

Demand planning in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management is Microsoft's next-generation collaborative demand planning solution. This app is powered by best-in-class forecasting algorithms models and offers immersive user experiences, intelligent reports, and analytics. It empowers organizations to build an agile, resilient, and sustainable demand planning practice that's fueled by intelligence and collaboration.

Demand planning or Forecast planning is usually long-term planning based on historical sales. We can group the products for forecasting, and it can be item-specific as well. We can generate multiple simulations while performing forecast planning in D365. Demand forecasting will cover the gross requirements while master planning will cover the shorter-term planning for items, and it will cover the net requirements.

?

The following options are available in the D365 Ecosystem for demand planning or forecasting.

Mountain’s people informed me that don’t be scared as the “End Draws Near”

?

In this article, I will cover the high-level concepts of the D365 Demand Planning Power App.

?

What is the D365 Demand Planning App?

The D365 Demand Planning Power app is a standalone Microsoft solution. It will cover the following aspects of businesses

?

1-????? D365 Demand Planning Power App (Sales forecasting): It will forecast future sales at the item level based on historical data.

?

2-????? D365 SCM Supply Planning (MRP using Planning Optimization): Supply planning will cover the material requirement planning. This will ensure the availability of RM, SF, and FG based on vendor, inventory, and production lead time.

?

3-????? D365 SCM Execution: This will cover all the D365 SCM modules (WMS, TMS, Production control etc.) to execute the SCM process.

?

Why Demand Planning?

Demand planning in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management enhances forecasting accuracy with advanced algorithms and promotes real-time team collaboration for strategic alignment and inventory optimization.

Customizable models and strong version control enable effective scenario analysis, seamless external system integration, and intuitive reporting for informed decisions. Proper setup of the Demand Planning app is key for improved forecasting, inventory management, cost reduction, supply chain coordination, customer satisfaction, strategic decisions, and ensuring scalability, flexibility, and security. D365 Demand Planning Power App Process:

D365 Demand Planning process follows the following five steps

D365 Demand Planning Power App Process

?

1- Import Data: Your organization can import data into Demand Planning to use in forecasting and analysis. You can use data inputs from Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Supply Chain Management, and other systems to import data to Demand Planning.?

?

2- Create Transformation: As a planner, you must create forecasts for upcoming years. In Demand Planning, you can use data from last year and shift it to next year to use as a basis, which is an example of creating a transformation. Your organization can create transformations to convert imported data into time series by identifying relevant columns, selecting time intervals, and adjusting dates as needed. Here we can select multiple fields for forecasting like order ID, product ID, product type, and buyer ID.

?

3- Generate Forecast: We can use different algorithms to generate the forecast.

?

4- Review: Review the forecasted demand by the D365 Demand Forecasting App.

?

5-Export Data: Export your data back to D365 SCM for D365 Supply planning and D365 Execution.

The least we can expect from this Demand Planning Power App is to end our state of scaredness in this world. We hope this App will improve the overall performance and optimize the forecasting outcomes.

?

Conclusion and Recommendations

  • D365 Demand Planning is a stand-alone app, in this App we can import data from various sources, create transformation, generate the baseline forecast, review the forecast output, and import the forecasted data back to D365 SCM for supply forecasting and execution.
  • Proper setup of the Demand Planning app is key for improved forecasting, inventory management, cost reduction, supply chain coordination, customer satisfaction, strategic decisions, and ensuring scalability, flexibility, and security.
  • D365 Demand Planning is based on Time series forecasting. This module provides tools for managing forecasts, integrating analytics, and aligning with organizational goals.
  • D365 Demand Planning Power App offers different forecasting models, such as AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and error, trend, and seasonality (ETS). You can view the previous forecasts that ran along with the output time series.
  • After you run the forecast, you can export it to external systems that consume forecasts.
