Cyprus trade deficit up in first eight months

Cyprus trade deficit increased in the first eight months of the year to reach €2.822,4mn, compared to €2.185,5mn in the corresponding period of 2015.
The Statistical Service of Cyprus announced in its new monthly electronic publication “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for August 2016, that total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) in January-August 2016 amounted to €3.901,1mn as compared to €3.426,2mn in January-August 2015.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States) in January-August 2016 were €1.078,7mn compared to €1.240,7mn in January-August 2015.
During August 2016 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) valued at €434,2mn.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States), including stores and provisions, in August 2016 amounted to €131,8mn. Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were €57,6mn whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were €74,2mn.
