Cyprus, Greece, Egypt energy summit in Cairo

President Nicos Anastasiades will fly from Athens to Cairo on Monday evening to take part in the fourth Trilateral Summit between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt focusing mainly on regional energy development.

On Tuesday morning, Anastasiades will also have a bilateral meeting with the Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi, an official announcement said.

“Among the issues to be discussed at the Trilateral Meeting are Energy, regional developments, EU-Egypt relations, developments on the Cyprus problem, as well as the cooperation among the three countries in a number of areas, including agriculture, the environment, air transportation, sea transportation and commerce,” the announcement also said.

“In the framework of the Trilateral Meeting, two Joint Declarations of Intention are expected to be signed among the three countries on issues of environmental protection, sea transport and recreation cruises,” it added.

In the previous meetings held in Athens, Cairo and Nicosia, the three countries discussed in detail the establishment of maritime boundaries in the eastern Mediterranean.

In addition, on Wednesday morning President Anastasiades will have another bilateral meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, expected to be followed by the signing of an Agreement on Air Transportation.

Anastasiades and his delegation, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, of Energy, of Transport, of Agriculture, as well as the Government Spokesman, will return to Cyprus on Wednesday evening.
