In our first conversation, they mentioned how foreign this all felt...the process of home buying, how to navigate the home buying journey, understanding the financial aspects of buying property, and even just the idea of ownership as young people of color. It feels like many of us brown and black folks aren't raised with this information at our fingertips!
Truthfully, home ownership is not something that everyone will be fortunate enough to experience in their lifetime. Cynthia is the first person in her immediate family to own a home. Both of them are Bay Area natives that found a way to buy where they were raised, which is becoming increasingly difficult as home prices go up and people are being pushed out of their own neighborhoods.

I started working in real estate to build my community in the Bay Area and especially in Oakland where gentrification is rapidly reshaping all of the neighborhoods we grew up in. I feel so blessed to be able to help people in my community access home buying options that they thought weren't even possible and lay down roots in my hometown! Moments like these motivate me so much to continue educating, advocating and fighting for that cause.
