Cybersecurity as top priority

President Biden, in his first decisions, appointed a team of cybersecurity experts to show that IT security is a top priority for him. These decisions are, of course, motivated primarily by the recent security incidents related to the #Solariswind Affair.
I think this is a very good move for a few reasons.
First of all, the recent events have clearly shown that the Internet and related subjects are still an area that requires special attention when it comes to security. The second key reason, in my opinion, is that it is a clear signal sent out to the world. This shows that the topic of cybersecurity should be one of our top priorities nowadays. The recent years, and especially the last year, have demonstrated that the Internet and the development of the world in the cyber realm allow us to cope quite well in difficult times. At the same time, the concerns for security or privacy seem to fail to keep pace with these developments. Such a gesture of the President of the USA will certainly help to show the direction and will positively influence the speed of improvements in this aspect. Moreover, I think that it will also be another stimulus supporting the trend of the Cybersecurity industry and services, which has been observed for the last few years.
What should be the main goal of this group?
In my opinion, first of all, "cleaning up" after the recent events. I mean both events: the already mentioned SolarisWind and the intrusion into the Capitol. The flip side of the latter incident is something less obvious – a breach of cybersecurity. The intrusion into such an important institution carried out by a group of unauthorized people raises questions about what they could have left behind in the IT infrastructure. It will certainly take some time to verify this and mitigate all the risks associated with it.
What's next? It's hard to define the next direction, but it will certainly be something related to the raging cyberterrorism and, you can even say, a hybrid war.
