A lack of government response has worsened the crisis. The Indian government recently announced the repatriation of 250 citizens who were lured to Cambodia by cybercrime rings, but the figure pales in comparison to the hundreds of thousands of people across Asia who are languishing in Cambodian scam compounds and forced to participate in cybercrime to earn food and shelter.
