Cybersecurity IoT/Industry 4.0

Cybersecurity IoT/Industry 4.0

Throughout the years, the depth of IT Security has increased exponentially, and the Cyber Security within the Industry 4.0 , without a "security by design" or as a first step, we will make the IoT be the Internet vulnerabilities what means it will continue it's increase (and possibly at a higher rate).

Attacks on connected medical devices  or connected cars pose a real threat to security and can cause the development of new regulations on civil and criminal liability (Different Government Organizations have been working since several years on it ). Certificates will play an important role in the safety of IoT devices, but, as time passes, security must be specifically oriented to IoT devices with a new design.

However, within Industry the production pauses due to external breaches or IT failures which in turn pose a challenge to the adoption and development of Industry 4.0.Although there will be a transition towards connected devices within a factory or plant, protection strategies and telemetry data threats will evolve. CISOs (Chief Information Security Officers) will be a key figure in any company, and will adopt a comprehensive approach to IT security infrastructure as well as dedicated layers of protection for the IoT Environment.

Privacy laws will go a step further. Government organizations must adhere to new requirements on the processing of personal data, and to introduce stricter rules regarding regulatory compliance. This is a big challenge even for the most informed and has raised concerns about the new processes of information management and rising costs, but it is increasingly important if not necessary that people realize the true potential of internet and new technologies, while they put appropriate measures to ensure that personal privacy is protected safeguards.

For Ciber-insurance will be inevitable for Consumers and even more for Companies as the risk of exposing themselves to hackers is increasing and this means putting in motion processes, education and training for their employees.

I would encourage you to reach out to me as I am gathering the Key Leaders  within IoT Security in Berlin on the 27th and 28th of June and in San Diego on the 3rd and 4th of November to move the market forward and try and help with the many concerns that Companies are facing right now with Security  in a connected environment.

We have also created a Survey in which I would like you to participate as a professional with the different challenges you are currently facing within IoT Security.

Nishal certificate based systems are not appropriate for IoT devices. It would be encouraged to maximize encryption on the devices to improve device security.
