Cybersecurity: The gap in your organisation

Cybersecurity: The gap in your organisation

While the spotlight in tech hiring often falls on AI, another field may be experiencing an even more critical demand: cybersecurity.

Recent data highlights a sharp increase in the need for cybersecurity professionals, with roles in this sector growing 19% over the past year.

Globally, a staggering 4.8 million positions are needed to combat escalating cyber threats, according to a new study from industry group ISC2. The numbers paint a clear picture: to keep up with the current threat landscape, nearly as many people as are already working in cybersecurity are still needed. 1.3 million cybersecurity jobs will be needed in the US alone.

To address this gap, many governments are stepping in, with a billion-dollar investments aimed at bolstering cybersecurity efforts.

The urgency is only increasing as cyberattacks rise. So far, nearly 9,500 cyber incidents have been reported in 2024, with the actual number likely far higher.

As cybersecurity grows into one of the most vital sectors of the tech job market, it may just become the go-to field for those seeking a stable, impactful career path in today’s evolving landscape.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, hiring CISOs and skilled cyber professionals is essential for organisations aiming to build resilience against growing cyber threats. As cyberattacks increase in frequency and sophistication, CISOs play a critical role in developing and implementing robust security strategies, while cybersecurity teams act as the first line of defense, continuously monitoring and mitigating potential risks. By investing in top cybersecurity talent, organizations not only protect sensitive data but also safeguard their reputation, maintain customer trust, and ensure business continuity in the face of potential breaches.
