Cybersecurity conversations around business risk should be the highest priority right now within your organization.

Lack of security domain expertise in-house, need for faster response to incidents, how do I protect my data from Ransomware…. sound familiar? With high attrition amongst IT talent, businesses are struggling to retain top employees as well as recruit some of the industry’s top cybersecurity talent across the globe to maintain and elevate the company’s security posture.

Covid-19 accelerated the digital transformation journey to fill the gaps of key areas that are at risk to vulnerabilities, ransomware impacting operations, data and halting business with customers. It’s truly a trickle-down effect impacting every one of us as consumer, patients and vendors.

As we look to advise clients on security posture and dealing with the absence of people, it is key to reduce risk with supply chain vendor management across the organization from cloud migration, critical applications, collaboration across the globe with customers to wrap it in a bow with cybersecurity. Do they have a CISO on board, is the IT staff owning the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery play? You may think that you have everything covered, but do you? Where is the leak? Who do I call if I am breached? Are there plans in place if my organizations’ payroll applications have been compromised? Have you budgeted for an attack? What is your confidence level of your security posture? All of this comes down to Business Operational Risk and having the right conversations within all levels.

It’s truly time to look at your security posture and fill the gaps where applicable. We must factor in the human element too. Technology software and services continue to improve but we have a missing link with people. Short cuts to save time and/or juggle multiple projects to meet critical deadlines can have a negative impact and can compromise your security posture. Cyberattacks are happening every day and they’re more successful when you are not prepared.
