Cybersecurity-Behind the Screens!!

Whenever I'm doing a discussion on cyber security people often ask me tell a story about cyber attack or a time when we had to prepare a business for attack prevention.

One story that comes to mind is a cyber security penetration testing engagement that I was a part of as a red team member. The goal of the engagement was to test the security of a large financial organization's network and see if we could gain unauthorized access to sensitive data.

We started with reconnaissance, gathering as much information as we could about the organization's infrastructure and employees. We then moved on to social engineering, sending phishing emails to employees and trying to trick them into giving us sensitive information or access to their accounts.

Once we had some initial access, we used our knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploits to gain deeper access to the network. We were able to compromise several systems and eventually gain access to a high-value target, such as a database containing sensitive customer information.

The organization was shocked at how easily we were able to gain access to their sensitive data, and they immediately implemented the security recommendations that we provided. It was a valuable learning experience for both the organization and the red team, and it highlighted the importance of regularly testing and improving network security.
