As the digital landscape continues to grow and evolve, the importance of protecting our online assets becomes more crucial than ever.
Two concepts that are often mentioned in the realm of cybersecurity are Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics.
While they may seem similar, they serve different purposes in keeping our online data safe.
Cyber Security - focuses on preventing cyber attacks and protecting against threats in real-time. This involves implementing various measures such as firewalls, encryption, access control, and network monitoring to prevent unauthorized access to systems and sensitive information.
Cybersecurity experts work to ensure that digital environments are secure and impenetrable to potential threats.
Cyber Forensics - is the process of investigating and analyzing digital evidence in the aftermath of a cyber attack. This includes examining network logs, system backups, and other digital artifacts to determine the source and scope of a breach, as well as any data that may have been compromised.
Cyber forensic experts work to identify the who, what, when, where, and how of an attack and collect evidence that can be used in legal proceedings.
While both cyber security and cyber forensics are important, they serve different purposes in protecting our online assets. Cybersecurity focuses on preventing attacks before they occur, while cyber forensics helps to investigate and respond to attacks that have already happened.
By understanding the differences between these two concepts, we can work to better protect our digital environments and respond effectively in the event of a breach.
