Cyber-Security: An Ever-Growing Civil Liberties Dilemma

As an educator and technology innovator, I share this warning based on experience. The “cyber-information age” we all exist in, is one of humanity’s greatest achievements. As one navigates through these waters, we must remember that they are deep. Our Civil Liberties and U.S. Constitution may be at risk. The virtues of which we hold so dear that were proclaimed all those years ago in centuries past, written with a quill and pen and paper and easily smeared by the above-mentioned waters that run dark and deep, influencing a world that is mesmerized—and judges actions based primarily by what is seen.

Many fail to understand, that technology is a complex tether, interwoven on a stage of countless curtains, and the majority only see the one in front, the one that they are meant to see. At the stage, they are entranced by an act of a few grand masters’ “grab”, battling powers of a grand puppet play. What most see and interact with is just a shell of an operation (the O.S or operating system) wants us to see—and touch and click with trust and delight— because millions of years of human evolution: have designed us to judge with our eyes. Technology (IOT Internet and Other Things) is very different because what we see is not the full picture—in fact what we see might not be “real” at all, and is commonly known in a select cyber-smart world as G.U.I (pronounced gooey, meaning—Graphic User Interface) which is the gloved hand we shake and the masked man we embrace which leaves no prints or trace, only ransom to incriminate, that is one of his countless cyber-tricks and families aren’t spared, nor the ones you hold dear. As immoral crimes do unlawfully attempt to erase (re-index), a life based in service is re-indexed on a whim for the purposes of unjust enrichment.

Cyber-crime is a dire reality that does not spare the rich or poor, but it preys on great ideas because it has lost its creative heart, long ago. A “technological expert” such as me, who does not own huge servers that are scattered throughout the world protected by multilateral agreements between multinational institutions that work together in temporary truce for common dark goals. They hide behind opensource, that obfuscates the stolen source, but if I understand opensource than my knowledge of linguistics etymology and ephematics would suggests that those servers are as much mine as theirs. But that’s not the way it works. They squeeze the juice from the fruit and leave the pulp to rot, a fruit that was once a dream fulfilled. I have always been a life-long advocate of technology as a creative tool that as I mentioned above is one of humanity’s great gifts—but vigilance is a necessity to protect our Civil Rights and cyber-crime knows no boundaries. They will strike when you’re sick and inattentive, on leave, for a body that is broken and focused on healing. But as your busy mind starts to muse you do what you can do and you write and you share precious jewels from the heart that are intent on addressing our world’s needs on your private personal social media “domains”. But these are details that are lost in a metadata blast and there’s no structured design that helps the victims pick up the pieces.

We must update our ethical and privacy standards and stay at watch for what’s mentioned herein, because law, ethics and privacy standards are far behind this accelerating field and law enforcement is still using candlelight guided by experts trained by the same master puppet scam. As authorities try to understand an “alleged crime” in which time stamps, location, and context are all easily manipulated by dark purpose—and are lost in the shatter of one’s toil, as they distort our most sacred and precious jewels.

As we enter this holiday season I couldn’t let the current year pass without sharing what is in fact a hard lived and learned fact to a “technological expert” such as I am. My family was attacked and my ideas/works bartered out in those deep dark waters of cyber-crime within the currents of that deep dark cyber-sea.

I would not be here today, unless I knew a thing or two, or perhaps it’s the blood of perseverance, as the descendant of a slave who bought his own freedom and taught himself to read transcending all obstacles of that era. In much the same way, I have enhanced my reading speed in the last few months. I have that same drive to survive and protect a family that I hold so dear.

And here is a warning to the multinational technology interests, we educators in fact have touched seas of human hearts that can flip the switch on this grand master puppet play. They can attest to my acts and creations from the heart and giving spirit that could not anticipate the extent of my injury that would spark many creative remarks as I lay in my bed. Inattentive to the countless curtains that were at work. There did come a time when I noticed the crime of dark purpose causing my family great harm. Although it’s not over I proclaim I will not kneel again as my ancestors were obliged long ago. Although I have no illusions that I’ve been freed, I can see the master puppet scheme, run by titans of industry, and corporate greed. As I lay in bed musing, I will not stop, and engage the tasks I can and the assistance that I have vowed to help aid human suffering and those in need.

To conclude I compel and call for serious debate as to the “gifts” we commonly hand to our precious children and further warn of the threat with pedagogical expertise having seen technology used in the classroom without a plan. We must not give up our hearts that empower learners’ hearts to create solutions for sustainable afar. They will be well prepared and they will care because they’ve been taught to care and technology will be one of their great tools. Because they will have seen long before that many tools designed to “help” us were the very structure that jailed our creative hearts. As what protects us (anti-virus software) is what jails us (malware/ spyware) and what guides us (GPS) is what tracks us with or without our consent. The off button is a ruse that would appear to have been used for behind the curtain, the background apps continue to thrive.

As a humanist I still have faith in an education that is enriched by careful and thoughtful curricular design, but we must not forget that technology is just a tool we must use as we facilitate creative growth, based in mindfulness of self and innate human rights that our learners will embrace and perpetually hold dear.
