Cyber Security

Cyber Security

First, Data Security is easy. Never put online anything you don't want someone else to read. National or industrial secrets or personal information should NEVER, NEVER be online. You can keep them on an "AirGap" Computer. A machine physically disconnected from the web. You can do this at home, at work, and in the Government. You don't put your vital information on the sidewalk; you keep it in a safe or lockbox. And if it needs to be shared within an organization, you have it on an Intranet (a closed network). If you need access to the web, you have a separate computer on your desk. In the future, computer companies should make ALL computer Operating Systems (OS) hardwired in Read-Only-Memory (ROM) so it cannot be damaged or corrupted by a virus or need to boot. Turn it on and go. Future computers could be dual systems. That allows one machine to be plugged into an Intranet on one side and the Internet on the other side, but viruses and data cannot cross between. Then you have a computer that can't be hacked, yet still, has access to Google and email. It's not rocket science. Now some data has to be shared like bank credit cards. But a simple algorithm (like the one I wrote) can easily eliminate ALL Credit Card fraud.

Using a none linked database: those without any Personal Identifiable Information (PII), just the card number, credit limit, and a Reference Number with no other information like your Address or Social Security Number (SSN) outside the secure database.

And if you have to have valuable data connected over the internet or a private internet, then you must use End-To-End Encryption (E2EE) between the Data Center to THEIR outside computer. And always use multi-factor authentication (MFA) and always max out the password length.

Second, we need laws the protect our information found on Corporate and Government databases. I believe if they have your information and it is hacked, they have to pay ALL of the damages and expenses incurred, plus fined (10x what they made off your data). Not just a sorry letter and 1yr Credit Monitoring. They need an incentive to only hold the data they really need and not just everything they hover up. And for companies, to value the safety of your data even more then you yourself.

Third, data swept up by law enforcement has to be inadmissible in court, if you were not under court-authorized surveillance for that crime or an accomplice?for the crime who was under investigation. And that data can be stored, but never be retrieved by anyone without a court order.

Fourth, we need an Underwriter Laboratory (UL) certification for Software and Hardware dealing with the Internet of Things (IoT) to be checked for Security Visibilities, Data Capture, and Catabilitiy Issues.

Fifth, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) needs to expand its Cyber Security Ability to investigate Cyber Hacking, Malware, and Ransomware. A

Sixth, National Security Administration (NSA) has Planning Tool for Resource Integration, Synchronization, and Management (PRISM) program closed in 2013 should be retooled to search Hosting Facilities here and abroad for securities breaches.

Seventh, the FCC should have the right to validate the safety of algorithms and sites to the public, much like Food or Drugs are checked by the FDA. Which users can see when last reviewed and complain directly to the FCC.

Eighth, Social Media is important. Because it allows for the greater exchange of ideas. The problem is that what allows us to have a sense of freedom to say what we think. Also allows people full of hate and pain to direct it towards others. Equally, it allows people to intentionally manipulate others to take their money, have sex with them, or physically or mentally assault them. And alter people's perception of reality, to betray our companies, our communities, and our nations.

Ninth, Social Media, which targets people and delivers users to fraudulent advertisers, or malicious users. Then they are 100% coupable in the crimes they commit.. A tiny number of users cause these problems and policing them will fix most of the problems. People of "historical" value should not be deleted, but ALL their content should be tagged as "hate speech", "fraud", "lies", "disinformation" And anyone should be able to flag it and remove it till some one can check it. Every time someone retweet something reminds them, "have you verifyed what you are endorsing is true? (Y/N)" and provide a link to verify the content.

Tenth, Verify real people. Most users access Social Media through Mobil Apps. Check if their location matches their profile; Do they run errands or travel like a normal person.? Do manipulate mobiles to match routines (so people cant fake mobility of a BotFarm by driving a 20 burner phone around in a van). ask for a photo striking a pose. BOTS CAN'T DO ANY OF THESE THINGS.

Digital Privacy Rights: We need to make it illegal to use your data to deny you a job, health cover, or use in violation of your Constitutional Rights or in a court of law. Americans should be allowed to view all data about them, correct or delete (other than your government record). Sorry -- your permanent record is still permanent.
