My Crystal Ball

This month we released our Data Breach Industry Forecast for 2022…Thanks to ZDnet for their story…So what’s in store?...Well, you will have to read the paper but here is a tease…The cyberdemic will continue with remote work, telehealth, and contact tracing all creating security vulnerabilities…Cybercriminals will take advantage of natural disasters and other societal issues as incidents will drive more donations to aid organizations, and both donors and people in distress will see an increase in phishing attempts masked as charitable giving…A new attack surface will be online gambling as more states legalize it so expect hacks and uptick in consumer phishing scams…Lastly, the popularity of cryptocurrency makes it attractive to cybercriminals so expect more breaches…In fact, recently there were several data breaches with more than $200 million stolen…Unfortunately the picture isn’t pretty for 2022 so organizations need to continue to focus on cybersecurity, needless to say...Read my dark web expert colleague Brian Stack's post for more on what's ahead.
