The?CVSA Roadcheck?is an annual safety enforcement event that includes a high volume of carrier inspections in Canada, the US and Mexico. This year, the Roadcheck will be held May 16 – 18, emphasizing anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and cargo securement.
It’s important to be prepared for the Roadcheck: If a carrier fails an inspection, their vehicle, or even their operating privileges, may be suspended until violations are resolved.
To help you stay safe and prevent a potential suspension, here are the details for the 2023 CVSA Roadcheck.

Inspectors will be investing particular attention to braking systems and cargo security for this Roadcheck. Wise carriers may perform their own evaluations of their rig before the Roadcheck to avoid potential violations.
?
Driver Compliance
Aside from inspecting a carrier’s vehicle, CVSA officers will also be performing a review of the following driver qualifications:
If a driver violates any of the above standards, the carrier may be subject to a restriction from operation. To stay safe and avoid restrictions, review that your documentation and licensing information is up to date before the Roadcheck.
If a carrier passes an inspection, the driver will receive a CVSA decal that is valid for three months.
The CVSA Roadcheck can seem like an intimidating event, but prepared carriers should have no need to worry. With time remaining to make any necessary updates to your rig or documentation, you can confidently enter the Roadcheck knowing that your vehicle is safe and compliant.
We will be publishing a follow-up article in the weeks to come with the results of the Roadcheck.
