Like?Benítez, Maurizio Sarri won the Europa League with Chelsea ,?and he has likewise departed his role this week. The experienced Italian resigned as Lazio manager?following a run of defeats that left them ninth in Serie A and out of the Champions League . Last season he guided the club to second in the league – their best finish since winning the title in 2000. Meanwhile, Lecce sacked manager Roberto D’Aversa after he headbutted Verona striker Thomas Henry, following a 1-0 Serie A defeat last Sunday.?D’Aversa apologised and has received a four-match ban, should he take over at a new club.
With Valérien Isma?l?sacked as Watford head coach, Tom Cleverley (above, right)?has taken the reins on an interim basis, stepping up from?the Under-18s. Cleverley will be assisted by Armand Kavaja and Damon Lathrope, with Jimmy Gilligan as technical consultant. After more than a decade coaching various youth teams with the DFB,?Christian Wück has been named Germany Women ’s next head coach.?Wück will take over once interim coach Horst Hrubesch departs, after this summer’s?Paris Olympics. Also on the international scene, former Reading striker Dave Kitson has been appointed manager and international ambassador of Pacific island nation Nauru, which is currently not a member of?FIFA. ? Finishing this week’s round up, Coventry City first-team coach?Dennis Lawrence is joining?Minnesota United as?assistant to?Eric Ramsay . And Charlton Athletic have announced James Brayne as individual development coach, joining from Birmingham City , where he was head of coaching and player development from Under-15 to Under-21.
