First-team coach Richard O’Donnell has left with Appleton. As with Charlton, Shrewsbury Town’s position four points above the?League One?relegation zone has?prompted?a?change of manager.?The Shrews?re-appointed?Paul Hurst?as head coach this week, following his spell in charge between 2016 and 2018. The club had parted company with?Matt Taylor?and his assistant?Marcus Bignot?last Sunday. Former Shrewsbury?boss Steve Cotterill — with nearly 900 games in management under his belt — has been tasked with keeping?League Twobasement club Forest Green in the EFL. Meanwhile, former?Sunderland?and England striker Kevin Phillips has taken on his second head-coach role, this time at?National League Hartlepool United.

Warding off speculation?she could replace?Emma Hayes?at?Chelsea,?Casey Stoney?has signed a four-year contract extension with the San Diego Wave.?Stoney’s 21 wins across two regular seasons is?the most by any NWSL coach in that time. Also in the NWSL, Washington Spirit have brought in Spanish coach Adrián?González as assistant coach. He will serve as interim head coach until?Jonatan Giráldez?joins at the end of?Barcelona Femení’s season. ? Ghana sacked?former?Newcastle?and?Brighton?boss?Chris Hughton?this week after their group-stage exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. Likewise,?Jean-Louis Gasset was sacked?as coach of hosts?Ivory Coast, two days after they slumped to a record?home defeat, 4-0 against Equatorial Guinea. Scottish Championship?club Ayr United have appointed former?Celticcaptain and?Fleetwood?manager Scott Brown as their new head coach. And in?La Liga,?Cadiz?have hired?Mauricio Pellegrino?as head coach, replacing?Sergio Gonzalez, with the club one point off safety.
