None of which was particularly surprising,?especially given that?Jürgen Klopp ?had the Anfield crowd?chanting Slot’s name last Sunday!?The Reds are also on the lookout for a new?set-piece ?coach,?advertising the position ?on LinkedIn this week.
More surprising?was?Mauricio Pochettino ’s?Chelsea ?exit after one season at Stamford Bridge. The Blues join?Brighton & Hove Albion ?in searching for a new manager, with the Seagulls parting company with?Roberto De Zerbi . And further along the south coast,?Bournemouth ?have appointed former?Roma general manager Tiago Pinto?as their first-ever president of football operations.
More Premier League movement,?with West Ham confirming this week that?former?Wolves ?and?Sevilla ?boss?Julen Lopetegui ?is?David Moyes ’ successor. The sometime?Spain ?manager has wasted no time in appointing?five coaches to his backroom staff: assistant head coach?Pablo Sanz, head of performance?and assistant coach óscar Caro, head analyst and assistant coach Juan Vicente Peinado, fitness coach Borja De Alba, and technical coach Edu Rubio. Leaving West Ham are first-team coaches?Billy McKinlay,?Kevin Nolan , John Heitinga and Henry Newman, while?Xavi Valero ?stays on as goalkeeper coach.
Two days after?winning?the?Coppa Italia ,?Juventus ?sacked?Massimiliano Allegri ?following controversy around his behaviour at the cup final.?“The dismissal follows certain behaviours during and after the Italian Cup final which the club deemed incompatible with the values of?Juventus ,” read?a club?statement. And?AC Milan ?have confirmed that manager?Stefano Pioli ?will leave the club following a five-year stint at the San Siro. Ajax have appointed?Francesco Farioli ?as their new head coach, after the?35-year-old guided Nice to fifth place in Ligue 1. Also in the?Netherlands ,?Robin van Persie ?has landed his first managerial role, taking charge of Heerenveen. In?Germany , Union Berlin have hired former?Mainz ?manager?Bo Svensson , while Romanian club Rapid Bucharest will be led by former?Celtic ?and?Hibernian manager?Neil Lennon ?next season. And in South America, former?Manchester United ?and?Manchester City ?striker?Carlos Tevez ?has resigned?as coach of?Argentinian ?club Independiente, after nine months in charge.
Stepping back?from?management?to focus on his health,?Tony Mowbray?confirmed this week that he won’t be returning to?Birmingham City , having gone?on sick leave in February – we wish him well.?Elsewhere in the EFL,?Norwich City ?sacked David Wagner after their playoff exit?against?Leeds . And?Barnsley ?have responded to League One playoff defeat by hiring Cheltenham’s?Darrell Clarke ?as their new manager.
